Overview
The overarching goal is to prove the international market potential of novel seasonal thermal energy storage solutions by demonstrating highly favourable techno-economic and environmental performance.
HSLU participates in INTERSTORES through the Institute for Building Technology and Energy and the Competence Center for Thermal Energy Storage. With a focus on sustainable, energy-efficient systems, in particular district heating and cooling networks, HSLU conducts research that is key to the decarbonization of energy systems. This includes the integration of decentralized thermal energy storage and the development of AI energy system applications, including simulations, control strategy design, and energy data analytics. Its expertise in thermal grid redundancy analysis and AI for digital twin development makes HSLU a unique European partner. In line with modern energy strategies, HSLU addresses immediate and long-term energy challenges posed by changing climate conditions. As an associate member of INTERSTORES, HSLU receives funding from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation.
