The shortage of skilled workers in the medical and nursing professions is coming to a head, while at the same time the demand for healthcare services will increase for demographic and epidemiological reasons (cf. various Obsan reports).

Overview

In order to counter this contradiction of increasing demand and scarce supply, only regionally integrated, prevention-oriented, well-networked and digitized healthcare systems can be effective in the medium term. A well-founded, scientific analysis of the success factors of various models of regional coordination and digital integration of healthcare is still lacking for Switzerland.
