Overview
The availability of daylight affects the utilizability - or affordance - of antique residential buildings over the course of the day and the year.
Funded by the German Fedearl Ministry of Education and Research, the cooperation with TU Darmstadt and the University of Leipzig shall develop a metric based on digital reconstruction and simulation to assess the utilizability of antique residential spaces and workshops as a function of daylight availability. The method shall be applied in for case studies, including four Greek and Roman settlements.
Coordinated by the Chair of Classical Archaeology at TU Darmstadt, the interdisziplinary, collaborative project unites four work groups from the disciplines of archaeologie, historical building research, lighting research and ancient history.
