Overview
The provision of health services can be optimized by integrating routine clinical data into the decision-making process of physicians and health care workers, which is currently underused. Vast data are collected daily in clinical databases, such as test results, treatments, and reports. However, different systems are currently used to distribute health services, which adds complexity to providing information that could be of great importance to physicians, healthcare workers, patients, and medical researchers. In addition, physicians face uncertainties as their patients may withhold important details or request unnecessary treatments. This information asymmetry can lead to sub-optimal treatments with pervasive effects on the health and well-being of patients.
The proposed SmartRehab project aims to develop a web-based smart health system to optimize the provision of rehabilitation services to simplify and potentially improve medical decision-making in trans-disciplinary research. This project will be carried out in cooperation with the Swiss Paraplegic Center (SPZ) and Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF).
