Living in a shared flat means being considerate of your co-tenants’ needs
Tenants in a shared flat may have wildly different lifestyles, behaviours and cooking habits. While this poses a challenge for a peaceful coexistence, it is also a great chance to get to know new people and cultures.
Self-organisation
The private rooms are being cleaned by the respective tenant. Kitchen, bath, toilet and communal spaces are cleaned once a week by a cleaning company. However, it requires self-organisation to keep the communal spaces clean. Each tenant needs to do his or her share of the household chores and recycling duties. Ideally, the tenants draw up a weekly roster for the various chores.
House rules
Tenants must follow the house rules in place in their building. To avoid complaints from the public about loud outdoor conversations or parties, please bear in mind that there is a legal requirement in Switzerland to avoid noises after 22:00.
