Biography
Josephine (Jo) Harris holds an MSc in Computer Science (2009) from University College London (UCL) and a BSc in Energy & Environmental Systems Engineering (2024) from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).
With 15 years of work experience in the digital space, nine of those as a Product Manager, Jo has an innate inquisitive and holistic mindset which she applies across her work. Her current goal is to combine this digital background with newly acquired energy engineering knowledge, contributing towards decarbonising the energy sector and accelerating climate change mitigation. Joining the Advanced Analytics & Intelligent Energy Systems research group as a Research Associate in the Digital Energy & Electric Power (DEEP) competency centre at HSLU in 2022 was a significant step to achieving that goal.
Jo’s interests are focused around:
- the digitalisation of infrastructure to aid operational efficiency,
- people-centric systems analysis (with a particular focus on data privacy) to ensure social and behavioural aspects are pivotal to solutions,
- design and development of efficient and effective human-computer interfaces, and
- more generally, putting the environment and climate change mitigation at the centre of design, engineering and technology decision making.
