Biography
Caravaggio, 1964
He studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, at the ETH Zurich and at the Ecole d'architecture Paris-Villemin.
In 1994 he opened his studio in Rome (since 2004 in Zurich) and works as an architect, curator and lecturer.
As an architect, he designs on various scales, from master plans to exhibition design.
As a curator and critic, he initiated the international architecture dialogues Transalpinarchitettura between Switzerland and Italy and the MittelArchitetture event between Austria and Italy. He conceived and realised the international event Costruire Identità and the exhibition and publication Italy now? He curated the international colloquium Spaziarte on contemporary art and architecture and the exhibition Architetture di Passaggio. Sguardi sull'architettura dal Ticino for the 10th International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia.
He has authored numerous publications, including Italy now? Contry_Positions in architecture, the dialogue books Singular Plural and Shared Architecture, as well as the monographs Heinz tesar and Jo Coenen.
He has taught as an assistant lecturer at the ETH Zurich and at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, and as a visiting professor at the University of Ferrara and at Cornell University Ithaca.
He has been a visiting critic at Syracuse University, NJIT New York, TU Delft, TU Berlin and Tsinghua University Beijing. He has been teaching at HSLU Lucerne since 2007 and at the University of Liechtenstein since 2009.
In 2021 and 2023, he represented Liechtenstein at the International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia.
