Biography
André Rogger, PhD, is an art historian and a collection curator and advisor.
Born 1966 in Lucerne, André studied art history and English literature at the Universities of Basel and Edinburgh. Later based in London and New Haven/CT he gained his PhD through a junior research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, for which he also won research grants from the Getty Research Institute, Santa Monica/CA and the Hunting-ton Library, San Marino/CA. His dissertation, on the significance of drawing for the English landscape garden around 1800, was later published as a book (Landscapes of Taste, 2007).
Other than landscape André's research today focuses on areas that are linked to his many years of professional expertise outside the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art: the reception of contemporary art in changing public and private contexts, or artistic work at the interface with design. He draws on his previous activities as curator of the collection of the Lucerne Art Museum and as head of the Credit Suisse Art Department and Collection.
André has been a part of the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art since 2003, mainly as lecturer and mentor in the BA Art (K++V). He is also responsible for three interdisciplinary modules (+Reflect, +Colabor).

- Position week (K++V): «#Collection, #Reception: on collecting Art» (Oct. 24)
- Methodenmodul 1 (K++V): Introduction into Visual Culture (Nov. 24)
