Biography
Daniela Zimmermann has been a member of the BA Product Design department team at HSLU since 2018. In 2024, she joined the MA Design program, where she lectures on design education within sustainability and interim leads the MA Design. As a textile designer and design consultant, Daniela's passion is fueled by questions of diverse togetherness, circular and regenerative design, narrative craftsmanship, and an appreciation for all forms of life.
Her 20 years of work experience in the globalized textile industry contribute to the values, focus, and content of her teaching. Daniela is interested in intercultural and interdisciplinary projects, particularly the different links in the value chain between customers, suppliers, and agents around the globe.
Her design occurs in the interfaces between design and art, research and technology, and socio-cultural and transformative projects. Her projects range from mass-produced to luxury goods and artifacts, including clients such as H&M, Carrefour, Intimissimi, ETH Zurich, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, the Glarus Tourism Association, and the International Trade Centre (UN).
Her love for art has consistently been a driving force behind her work. In her studio in Zürich, she pursues small commissions that oscillate between transformational design, craft, art and contribute to a resilient future.
