Biography
Prof. Viktor Sigrist, PhD (*1960) grew up in Lucerne, Switzerland, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He continued his studies at ETH Zurich with a diploma in structural engineering and, after a practice period with an international construction company, a doctoral degree in the field of analysis of concrete structures. Back in Lucerne, Viktor Sigrist became a partner of an engineering company and was active with the design and assessment of bridges and buildings. In 2002 he was appointed Professor of structural engineering at Hamburg University of Technology (Germany) where from 2012 he also held the position of a vice president. Since March 2015 he is the Dean and Managing Director of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Engineering & Architecture.
