Life-long learning: a key issue for the future
The EU.ACE is a network of eleven European university-level institutions. Together, they develop bespoke and innovative tertiary-level education programmes. Their aim is to strengthen life-long learning by providing more universal access to tertiary-level education locally, across Europe and around the globe. This will empower today’s workforce to meet the requirements of the 21st century society and jobs market alike.
Membership with the EU.ACE Living Labs also allows the HSLU to align its research activities with today’s key social and economic challenges. Organised in challenge teams, researchers, industry representatives and students are developing leading-edge solutions together.
Committed to entrenching a culture of life-long learning, the EU.ACE member institutions have established the “European Universities Leadership Institute” to promote training opportunities for their employees. Conducting research into the concept of life-long learning and into what constitutes successful life-long learning in practice is another important hallmark of the network’s activities.
European university alliances
The European University Alliances are a flagship initiative of the European Union. Some 60 European alliances will have been created by the end of 2024, all of which are set to play an important role in advancing a common European university space. One major goal is to strengthen Europe's innovative power through a range of strong and sustainable university networks.
Partner institutions with the European University Alliances also benefit from collaborative learning, benchmarking and skills development in a mutual exchange based on trust, as well as easier access to resources such as third-party funding and support for the submission of EU-funded research projects.
