Admission

Applicants require

  • a recognised vocational baccalaureate 
  • a recognised general baccalaureate with a work placement (internship) 

or, in certain cases, may be admitted

  • on approval (i.e. on grounds of their portfolio (“sur dossier” procedure). In the event of a positive decision by the admissions board, the applicant will then be invited to attend an interview and to take a creative aptitude text (Admission Examination)

Focus Design

  • a recognised vocational baccalaureate 
  • a recognised general baccalaureate, plus one year’s relevant work experience OR a certified preparatory course

Applicants who meet the admission requirements will be invited to submit a portfolio and to complete a home assignment on a set theme. In the event of a positive decision by the admissions board, the applicant will then be invited to attend an interview – which also entails a creative aptitude text (Admission Examination).

International

From the third semester on, students can opt to spend a study semester at a partner university or do a work placement (internship) abroad.

Place of study

Emmenbrücke and Rotkreuz 

In the academic year 2018/19, almost all the modules will be taught on the Emmenbrücke campus
As of autumn 2019, the degree programme will be taught on both campuses, at Emmenbrücke and Rotkreuz. 

Time model
  • full-time

The entire degree programme is devoted mainly to project work. In their projects students write code, sketch out concepts, solder integrated circuits, design virtual worlds, devise programmes and research innovative technologies. Developing concrete applications by means of trial and error (i.e. by experimenting and learning, also from their mistakes) hones the skills they will need to apply in their future careers.
