We all want to save energy. After all, it is good for the environment. People who live in energy self-sufficient buildings not only want to, they have to save energy. Otherwise, things could get uncomfortable in the house.
Saving energy costs means, for example, that I only start my washing machine when my solar system produces enough electricity. To do this, I need an intelligent system that tells me the optimal time for washing. And this is exactly what our research project is all about: developing an intelligent energy management system.
The aim of our project is to obtain the most accurate possible prediction of energy consumption. For an energy management system to be able to do this, we believe that it must be able to do the following three things: Analyse the past, interact with the inhabitants and learn from their behaviour. This is why our research project is about energy self-sufficient buildings - because in the future, every ray of sunshine may count.
