Exchange Students Working Together With Local Students on a Hands-on Project
Local and exchange students of the taught-in-English bachelor's Online Marketing in Tourism and Mobility module were given the task of creating an additional tool for new students coming to Lucerne. This led to the creation of the "Lucerne Life" website www.lucernelife.ch. The website is a new resource for incoming exchange students and possibly tourists to find out a little more about the city they are coming to. It has everything from where to eat, where to stop, what to see, and includes special activities in both spring and winter semesters.
Andreas Liebrich, head of the module, explains that the overall aim of the module is for the students to understand the possibilities and limitations of digital tourism tools and propose suitable online communication tools for use along the customer journey of travelers. Based on a hands-on case, students apply one or more marketing tools, taking into account the marketing strategy of a company.
Future students and even tourists now have a useful tool to identify unique highlights in Lucerne that would otherwise not be so easily found. Andreas Liebrich is looking forward to continuing this project with future students as well as identifying other cases to explore with the next group of students.
