Major Accounting, Finance & Banking

Accounting focuses on recording, presentation and analysis of a company's financial performance. In Management Control, applicants will learn to use concepts and develop and use tools, which enable management teams to focus on the most effective and efficient courses of action. Students will further learn about the principles of corporate finance. They will get to know major financial instruments and will learn how to deal with financial risk. Furthermore, students will get a solid background on the Swiss and international banking sector. The success factors of modern banking in today’s digital environment are discussed. Working in multidisciplinary teams on real-world problem solving to develop core intellectual skills will prepare applicants to be successful in a competitive and fast changing business environment.

Commencement of studies

The academic year 2024/25 starts on 09 September 2024 with a compulsory orientation week. The official start of the semester is on 16 September 2024 (calendar week 38).

Semester dates

Autumn semester: Mid-September to Christmas (calendar week 38 – 52)
Spring semester: Mid-February to end of May (calendar week 8 – 22)

Full-time studies: Daytime Monday to Friday (normally not to exceed nine lecture hours) until 6.15 PM

Project and Study weeks: Selected modules can be offered in the form of a project or study week. In the work-integrated part-time study programme, this usually happens only once within the major during the official study week; in the full-time or non-work-integrated part-time programmes, in addition to the study week, block-week teaching is sometimes offered too. Additional cost for participation might apply.
