Generally, Universities of Applied Sciences are more practical orientated with the goal of educating students for professional work life. They do so by combining theory and practice in a unique way. Traditional Universities on the other hand are traditionally more research oriented.

The main difference between the two programmes is that the IBA-programme is taught in English and the BA-programme in German. Some content differs to prepare gradates for more internationally oriented careers. In addition, in the IBA-programme you have a choice of three majors and four minors in English, of which you can choose one at a time. In the BA programme, on the other hand, you can choose between 8 Major and 12 Minor subjects in German.

Yes, that’s possible. If you are in command of the German language (Level C1 is recommended), you can select some credits from modules in German. Special terms and conditions apply.

The work experience must include practical and theoretical knowledge in an occupation related to the field of study.

At the Lucerne School of Business we believe in the active dialogue between students and lectures. Therefore, most of our classes are take place in a face-to-face setting. Pure online sessions are the exception.

As a Swiss student you need a “Berufsmaturität Ausrichtung Wirtschaft/Dienstleistungen” or «Gymnasiale Matura». If you graduated abroad you need to check the swissuniversities website or send us your graduation certificate so we can check it. All applicants need to have an English language level of C1 or better, and all applicants must have at least one year of work experience which must include practical and theoretical knowledge in an occupation related to the field of study.

If you don’t have your C1 certification proving your language skills at the time of application, you can be admitted conditionally and hand it in before your first class.

You need to hand in a valid certificate before the programme starts. The following providers are accepted: CAE, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC.

Yes, it is also possible to do an exchange semester at a university that isn’t a partner institution. However, this needs to be organised by the student themselves.

Usually, our students go on exchange during their penultimate semester of the programme.

In most cases our students study just one semester abroad. However, it is also possible to study two semesters at another institution if approved by the head of the exchange programme.
