In September 2017, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – School of Business is starting another Master of Science in Banking and Finance cohort. Since its first launch in 2008, master’s studies in Banking and Finance at the Lucerne School of Business have established standards in postgraduate education. On the one hand, the MSc in Banking and Finance is very well received by employers, with graduates in demand as highly-trained employees. On the other hand, this course enjoys continued great popularity with students. This year, some 50 students took up their MSc in Banking and Finance studies.
Over the last few years, the curriculum has been continuously updated. We have once again introduced some exciting additions and adjustments for the new academic year. These changes have two overriding goals. Firstly, a wider choice of courses provides students with an even greater chance of delving deeper into their fields of interest. Secondly, we are aiming to incorporate study of far-reaching changes and trends occurring in the financial markets into our courses. To this end, additional key research areas of the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ are offered in the form of courses and modules. Crowdfunding, Business Analytics, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies or Sustainable Investments are just some examples of topics which, though new, are now relevant to the financial sector.
In our new «Trends and Innovations in Banking» module, we also discuss which business models are particularly promising for FinTechs and the resultant strategic consequences arising for established financial institutions.
Overall, the programme offers six new elective courses. Amongst others, students can opt for our new «Sustainable Investments», «Crowd and Crypto Based Investments» or «Other Alternative Investments» courses. In addition, students can also learn about alternative methods to use for modelling financial markets (agent-based modelling). Within the Corporate Finance sector, students can also now find out more about «Real Estate Investment Banking» and «Restructuring Management».
Beyond this comprehensive range of courses, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, School of Business is aiming to further augment the content of its MSc Banking and Finance degree. Our Head of Programme, Prof. Dr. Andreas Dietrich, is pleased to help you with any queries.
