Overview
Many skilled migrants arriving in Switzerland leave behind not just their homes but also their professional lives. They often encounter obstacles like a lack of local networks, unfamiliarity with the Swiss work culture, and non-recognition of their qualifications. This can lead to prolonged job searches or accepting positions below their skill level (i.e., deskilling). Non-employment, underemployment or overqualification is not just a loss of potential for the job market; it also impacts the individuals' mental well-being as for example professional identity is for most people an important part for their self-esteem. This project explores how highly skilled migrant workers can faster find jobs that suit their skill-level with a specific focus on development of digital elements to support more migrants, including underrepresented groups.
