- Firstly, an inventory of tourism data sourceswas created. The inventory shows the data in 11 categories and is available at tourismdata.ch. It lists publicly available data sets as well as information on private data sources.
- Creation of a decentralised National Data Infrastructure for Tourism (NaDIT), in which marketing-relevant but non-personal data is shared. The tourism industry uses over 30 systems for such data, which provide tourist websites with accommodation offers, restaurant information, weather, webcams, information on points of interest, mobility information of all kinds, routes for hiking and non-motorised traffic or events. The exchange of data between different IT systems requires a data standard that harmonises the data. To this end, a charter has been signed by all 13 tourism regions, Switzerland Tourism and tourism IT service providers. A group is working on standardising the data to make it easier to exchange and, in some cases, to make it available as open data for new applications, such as those using artificial intelligence.
- Use cases show what is possible with anonymised user data. Data from Swisscom, Mastercard, Intervista and Guidle are used to show data-based facts for the canton of Ticino as an example.
- Data-based business models are to be created to ensure the long-term viability of the project results.
The national data infrastructure (NaDIT) is a sub-project of the Resilient Tourism Flagship Project , which is led by EHL and involves collaboration with more than 30 project partners.
