The “Sustainable Tourism Destination” case study is developed modular and consists of two “fundamental” and five “topic-based” modules. The case study is interdisciplinary and promotes networked and systems thinking about sustainable tourism management. The fundamental modules can be combined with any or all of the five “topic-based” modules for teaching purposes. The two fundamental modules consists of “sustainability basics” and a “fictive destination” called “Pleasantview” located in a typical Alpine setting. Each of the five topic modules focus on one sustainable tourism issue and describes how this is managed at a destination that can be considered a good example in Switzerland today. Each topic-based module also includes a practical exercise for students with information provided about Pleasantview that can be completed individually or in groups during one or two lessons.
