Overview
The activities of the Bioenergy Group of HSLU within the consortia of partners focus on research for the substitution of fossil fuels by advanced combined heat and power applications. The goal is to produce clean and economical (process-)heat and power from lower quality biomass.
HSLU pursues a number of research activities, which aim at optimizing technologies to convert solid biomass – including high ash biomass – into heat and power with maximum efficiency and minimum environmental impact. Some activities are the co-development of a screw burner combustor to allow the use of fuels with high ash content or supervise and further improve moving grate combustor for dusty biomass fuel utilizing waste cereal residues to deliver high temperature heat.
