Biography
Born in Switzerland, Peter Baur studied with the French pianist Catherine Dalban and at the „Akademie für Schul- und Kirchenmusik“ of Lucerne. In 1982 he both completed his theory studies in Lucerne and graduated in piano at the SMPV of Basel.
In 1984 he was awarded a prize by the Aargau Kuratorium; it included a period of stay at the „Cité des Arts“ in Paris for study purposes. He subsequently followed specialisation courses for Lied accompaniment with Irwin Gage in Zurich and with Noël Lee in Savonlinna.
As a guest of the „Hogeschool voor de Kunsten“of Utrecht, from 1988 to 1996 he was an assistant of Professor Udo Reinemann in his class of solo singing. Besides his teaching activity, he engages in the accompaniment of Lieder recitals and masterclasses (Lucerne Festival, „Klangbogen“ of Vienna, Festival du Périgord Pourpre, Festival du Périgord Noir, Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise and CIFM of Nice).
Since 1999 he has been a professor of vocal ensemble, chamber music, Lied interpretation and performance practice / stage training at „Hochschule Luzern - Musik“ of Lucerne.
