At the symposium, models of promotion of competencies and fundamental questions of artistic and art education research will be discussed. The results of the exchange will be recorded in the form of possible recommendations for the promotion of extended competencies.

About the keynote speakers
James Bulley is an artist and composer whose work explores sound, space and the more-than-human world. He is based in London, United Kingdom. In 2021, Bulley published two reports (with Dr Özden Şahin) What is practice research? and How can practice research be shared? following a three-year post-doctorate with PRAG-UK and Research England. In 2018 he co-edited a special issue of the Leonardo Electronic Almanac on curation in sound art, which followed from the Sound Art Curating conference he co-directed at Goldsmiths, University of London (2014). In 2018 Bulley completed a doctorate in Music at Goldsmiths, and following this was a Research Associate and member of the Unit for Sound Practice Research in the Department of Music (2018-2021). He currently a visiting research fellow at the Department of Music at Goldsmiths, where he has established the Lily Greenham Archive, the Hugh Davies Collection, and the Longplayer Archive. https://www.jamesbulley.com/
Arno Böhler is a university lecturer (faculty member) at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna and a lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Together with Susanne Valerie Granzer, he founded the Kulturwerkstatt baseCollective in 1997, where they have developed research formats such as Philosophy On Stage, Arts-based Philosophy and Philosophy as Artistic Research. Böhler has led several research projects funded by the FWF. Research stays have taken him to Bangalore University, Heidelberg University, New York University, the University of Princeton, mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the University of the Arts Bremen and the Berlin University of the Arts. https://homepage.univie.ac.at/arno.boehler/php/
Susanne Valerie Granzer is an actress with appearances in various theaters in Basel, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin and Vienna as well as an emeritus university professor for role design at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Max Reinhardt Seminar), where she still teaches a course on aesthetics as ethics. She completed her studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and at the University of Vienna, where she received her doctorate in 1995. She is co-founder of the Kulturwerkstatt baseCollective (with Arno Böhler), the festival Philosophy On Stage and the residency program for Artistic Research in South India.
