The Systems and Software Research Lab at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), co-headed by Prof. Dr. Angela Nicoara and Prof. Dr. René Meier, is a multidisciplinary research lab focusing on research at the intersection of the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile systems, software and intelligent applications.
Our areas of research include the development of IoT and smart systems, edge and cloud computing, next generation systems architectures, the integration of mobile technologies and intelligent methods in smart systems and Industry 4.0 solutions, and novel information technology services that shape the emerging trends in systems software, infrastructure and smart services sectors.
Our goals are the development of real systems and the advancement of state-of-the-art IoT and smart systems in the fields mentioned above, building novel architecture designs and compelling research prototypes that inspire technology transfers with an impact on the processes, roadmaps and business strategies of companies. Through close collaboration with industry and academic institutions, we stimulate the emergence and testing of concrete innovation ideas, thus creating opportunities to directly impact corporate products and services.
The Systems and Software Research Lab is an academic partner of the Innovation Park Central Switzerland, which is also located on our Suurstoffi campus in Rotkreuz. We live a culture of close exchanges with our industry partners at the Innovation Park and organize innovation workshops on a regular basis.
