The Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology offers a dual degree in cooperation with the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in Australia to students of Computer Science and Business Information Technology eager to enrich their studies with extensive international experience.

How does this dual degree work?

Students have the opportunity to obtain two coordiated degrees, one of which is awarded by the partner institution in Australia. They attend the first four (full-time studies) or six (work-study track) semesters at the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology in Rotkreuz and their final year (only available full-time) at the UniSC. The UniSC recognizes 16 modules previously completed at the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology. At the UniSC, students attend an additional eight courses (awarded 7.5 ECTS credits each). The ECTS credits earned at the UniSC are in turn recognized by the HSLU.

The eight courses listed below could be. They are subject to change. UniSC will use the applicant's previous transcript of records to adapt the final module composition to the personal profile. The academic year in Australia is a full-time program. All course descriptions can be found on the website.

What are the semester dates at the UniSC?

The first semester takes place from February to June, the second semester from July to November. A semester is five months. You can start the dual degree at the UniSC in July or in February.

When and where will I write my bachelor’s thesis?

You may write your BSc thesis at the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology, during your stay in Australia or, potentially, afterwards (this will add a semester to your studies).  The bachelor's thesis will be supervised and marked by a lecturer from the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology.

What are the costs for a semester/year in Australia?

The study fees are 12.500 Australian dollars per semester. Students from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts are entitled to a 15% discount.

AU$ 12,500 semester fee
- 15% discount: AU$ 1,875
+ AU$ 376 OSHC health insurance per semester (compulsory)
+ AU$ 5,000 accommodation and cost of living per semester 
approx. expenses for one semester AU$ 16,000 (incl. 15% discount)
in CHF (exchange rate on 4 April 2024): CHF 9,568.–

What are the requirements for participation in the program?

    • At least 120 ECTS credits earned from the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology.
    • Successful completion of all compulsory modules at assessment and intermediate level.
    • An official English language certificate:
      IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 or higher (and 5.5 or higher for each category).
      TOEFL: internet-based test with an overall score of at least 76 points and at least 18 points for writing.
