Admission requirements Our admission requirements

We are pleased that you are interested in pursuing a doctorate with us. To be admitted to our doctoral programme, you are required to meet a range of general criteria, submit a successful application and pass an entrance examination.

Doctorate (in cooperation with foreign universities)

The admission requirements for a doctorate are: 

Admission requirements
  • A Master's degree in the musical-artistic or in the music-pedagogical or in the music-related scientific field
  • Proof of research skills
Language skills
  • Proficiency in the German language (B1 level)
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level)

Note: The doctoral thesis is not required to be written in English; it may also be written in German, French, or Italian.
